Hi, I'm Jialing Li!

Digital. Physical. Design.

About me
I graduated from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO), Norway, with the master degree of design, and focused on industrial design and UI & UX design.

Design always begins with a good question. In the process of solving the problem, design thinking drives the entire design process. It takes the form of discovering, defining, creating, and finishing. I would like to take design thinking to set the problems, then use my creativity and design skills to solve the problem.

Brainstorming, sketching, metaphor, and observing the details of life are the main ways I create. I enjoy being creative with pen and paper. But product design is more than that. In addition to drawing, product design also needs to consider the functions, aesthetics, assembly, transportation, how to use, etc. Modeling is the process of converting ideas from 2D to 3D. In this process, the details of the product can be precisely refined. The most fascinating part of creation is discussing the color and material of the product, how people use it, and the temperature and distance between products and the users.

The industrial design needs to combine science, engineering, and art, not only the practicability of the product but also its aesthetics and emotional connection with people. I care about the interaction and emotion between products and people. My works often discuss the relationship between people and products, and the relationship between the environment and products. I hope that the product itself can give people a stronger emotional link through details such as shape, usage, sound, material, and texture while satisfying the function and aesthetics. To make a product not only functional but also aesthetic and emotional is the direction of my dedication and efforts as a product designer.

The designer is a profession that sounds very elegant. It improves people's quality of life by producing aesthetics. In fact, aesthetics is not inherently exquisite. A beautiful product will become exquisite after countless times of scrutiny and polishing, just like a pearl is only a grain of sand at the beginning, and it has been carved thousands of times before it becomes a pearl. A mature pearl needs to be crafted from multiple angles. Designers need to absorb views and experiences from different professions. Teamwork makes the project solid.

I truly believe that design does not have to be very serious, but the way to the solution is very serious.

Full-time working in UI/UX design
- Designed the user interface and interaction flows for a deep-learning vision configuration platform used in robotic automation.

- Translated complex engineering logic into clear, user-centred workflows, enabling seamless configuration of datasets, cameras, and models for engineers and system integrators.

- Built a scalable design system in Figma (icons, tokens, dark/light modes) and collaborated directly with software engineers using Python-based prototypes to ensure design feasibility.

- Authored UX copy and technical documentation, rewriting error messages, field labels, and configuration guides to improve clarity, consistency, and accessibility.

- Partnered cross-functionally with PMs, software engineers, and mechanical designers to optimize usability, visual hierarchy, and system feedback across digital and physical interfaces.

- Designed and launched a product-focused website highlighting new automation solutions and technical storytelling.

Industrial Designer
Cobotic AB, Västerås, Sweden, 2019—2020
Full-time working in industrial design
