Projection mapping design

About the project
In order to advertise by:Larm music festival in a way that attracted attention, excitement and engagement, we made an interactive projection mapping onto the cultural and religious building in the middle of Oslo, which created a vibe throughout the city and immersive experience for people passing by.

The theme of the content was “Pop culture and mainstream controversy”. People can shift the video content from reality tv stars to world catastrophes by holding the button, and bring out feelings with the color atmosphere changing on the church as well as the boxes around.
Approach and process
In order to have a sharper visual effect and color overlay on the church, we split the output onto two screens with two projectors. Meanwhile, four arcade buttons were connected to the Touchboard on one hand, and to an Arduino Uno with a DMX Shield on the other hand.

Holding one of the buttons down would activate a variation in the lightbox and video, and the change would go back to the default state when the buttons were released.

Interactive boxes and videos
There are four buttons on the control box, each of the them would activate different colors of the lights in the physical boxes, as well as triger videos to fill on the church wall with color overlay.

If there is no one interactive with the box, a default video with by:Larm’s visual elements would run all the time and keep attracting passengers to approach.
